2012南通中学AP课程学习推进会成功举行
2012 Nantong Middle School AP Program Seminar Takes Place
8月18日上午,南通中学AP课程学习推进会在宏观楼二楼报告厅成功举行。国际教育部副主任、高三AP班班主任孙晔老师主持了会议。
On 18th Aug, Nantong Middle School conducted Nantong Middle School 2012 AP Program Seminar at the lecture hall of Hongguan Building. Ms. Sun Ye (Sunny), the vice president of the International Division presided over the seminar.
本次推进会共分为三个议程,来自AP课程班合作办学方安生基金会的升学代表陈娟老师首先为广大同学讲解美国大学的录取标准和AP课程在录取过程中的重要性。其间陈娟老师用学校视频、统计数据、录取案例多角度与在座的家长同学一起探究了AP课程在美国高中的意义和地位,并具体明晰地阐述了AP在申请中的作用。AP课程作为美国高中课程体系中难度最大的课程,既能显示学生卓尔不群的学习能力,展现优秀的学术水平,提高GPA,还能向大学展示出学生挑战自我的精神和勇气。
The agenda of the seminar included three topics, of which the first was the requirement of college admission and what AP curriculum means. Using videos, statistics, and previous cases, Ms. Chen Juan of Ameson discussed the significance of AP as the hardest course of U. S. high school diploma system. AP elevates GPA, reflects students’ academic competence, and impresses admission officers with challenge.
第二部分中,南通中学国际教育部主任滕旻彦老师通过“再读AP课程”为题的主题研讨,为参会学生、家长讲述了有关AP课程开设、选课、学习和考试四个方面的内容,并再次强调AP课程的重要性。作为一名化学老师,滕旻彦老师通过对中美教材的比较分析,总结出了AP课程与中国普通高中课程和考试之间的差异,并由此深入浅出地介绍了南通中学AP课程班的课程设置、选课建议和学习方法,激励同学们对未来的学习做出合理的规划。
Followed, Ms. Teng Min-yan, the president of International Division, discussed the AP course setting, selection, study and examination with students, and again highlighted the significance of AP curriculum. As a chemistry teacher, Teng concluded the difference between the AP curriculum and Chinese high school curriculum, by comparing and contrasting the chemistry textbooks. There, she advised students to appropriately select the courses, properly apply study methods, and prospectively plan their study.
在会议的第三部分,高三AP班权佳柔、范连成、陈天若、沈伊葭四位同学分别向在场的学弟学妹们传授AP微积分、AP物理、AP化学和AP经济学四门课程的学习经验和考试复习技巧。四位同学都根据自己的学习情况及AP考试准备情况,总结了自己的优势和不足,并建议即将迎来AP课程的学弟学妹们要从平时的积累做起,不放松,不懈怠,课堂专心听讲,作业认真完成,为了AP考试而努力、奋斗。
Senior students Quan Jia-rou (Cathy), Fan Lian-cheng (Joyce), Chen Tian-ruo (Roy), and Shen Yi-jia (Jessica) who have just completed AP exams respectively introduced study tips and techniques of AP Calculus, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, and AP Economics. The four students concluded their personal experience, outlined their strength and weakness of their study, and suggested younger students to strive hard on the ground.
分管国际教育的校长助理沈惠祥和高一AP班班主任范晔老师、高二AP班班主任葛峰老师、安生基金会升学中心老师代表等出席了会议。
Mr. Shen Hui-xiang, vice principal that supervises international education, Mr. Fan Ye, class teacher of sophomore AP class, Mr. Ge Feng, class teacher of junior AP class and representatives from Ameson Foundation attended the seminar.
