Alan: Good morning.

范连成：What quality do you think is the most important for us to learn mathematics?

Alan: Mathematics is needed and used every day of our life. Math can give you more knowledge. The more you learn, the more options you have are available. Learning strategy is an individual approach to a task.. They can teach a student to learn and accomplish a particle task more effectively and efficiently either in or out of school. So I want to teach my students problem-solving skills through reading math problems.

沈伊葭：Why did you want to be a math teacher?

Alan: I love numbers and in fact, I graduated from Alexandric University as an engineer. Then mathematics was a big part of my major. So, I loved and are still in love with math. So I went to Rutgers University in New Jersey to study abstract math and I got my major in Mathematics. Second, as I said, I enjoy working with math. Therefore, I like to teach it and surprisingly, I am learning from my student how to solve a problem with new approaches. It’s exciting!

范连成：Some students think calculus is a little boring, do you have some suggestions for them?

Alan: The beauty of calculus is built on proofs and a lot of Algebra. Sometimes we have to see through some stuff before you arrive at the place when you find something interesting. Physics and calculus are connected hand in hand.

沈伊葭：When you were a student studying calculus, how did you develop the interest in calculus?

Alan: I took a class about proofs and number theory, and I loved it. Then I studied the analysis through proofs, and I also loved.

范连成：What do you think of China?

Alan: First, I love China, I enjoy my life here , teaching Chinese students mathematics. It’s challenging because most students in China are pretty good in math and that make me happy. Second, Chinese students are extremely polite and ready to learn. It’s pleasure to teach in China.

沈伊葭：What do you want to say to us?

Alan: To all of my students in Senior Two, keep up the good work and I am proud to be your teacher!
